IECA Australasia, CPB Acciona Joint Venture (CPBACCJV) and Western Sydney Airport Co (WSA) will be hosting a field trip to the Western Sydney International Airport site on Tuesday 20^th April 2021.

Building Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport involves one of the largest earthmoving challenges in Australian history. It is estimated that over 25 million cubic meters of earth will be moved to build the airport, with over 200 machines operating on site. The cost to build the airport is $5.3 billion, the airport is scheduled to open in 2026 with the capacity to move 10 million people a year.

Over 8 million cubic metres of earth has been moved so far, in addition to the almost 2 million cubic metres moved during the initial earthworks phase.

This is an opportunity to see firsthand erosion and sediment control on a scale you have never seen before. Places are limited so book early.

Construction activities include:

• major earthworks
• sandstone excavation works.
• remediation works.
• importation of sandstone material
• water treatment and dewatering activities
• installation of permanent airport drainage
• survey and geotechnical works
• installation of non-potable water pipeline

Include safety induction.
9.50am Morning tea in viewing space or lawn – pending weather
11.00am Depart on Site Tour
12.30pm Return to Visitor centre and tour ends.

NOTE: All attendees must have their own PPE - Lace-up steel capped boots, long sleeved shirt, long pants, hi vis, hardhat, and safety eyewear. You will not be allowed on site without this equipment
