IECA Australasia is excited to give you the opportunity to again visit the Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) site on Tuesday 15th August, 2023. Our last visit was in 2021 when we had the opportunity to see the early stages of the major earthworks.

This event is being hosted by IECA Australasia, and Western Sydney Airport (WSA).

Building WSI involves one of the largest earthmoving challenges in Australian history. Over 25 million cubic meters of earth was moved during the Major Earthworks project, with over 300 machines operating on site. The airport is scheduled to open in late 2026 with the capacity for 10 million annual passengers.

This is an opportunity to see firsthand erosion and sediment control on a scale you have never seen before. Places are limited so book early.

Construction activities include:

• major earthworks
• sandstone excavation works.
• remediation works.
• importation of sandstone material
• water treatment and dewatering activities
• installation of permanent airport drainage
• survey and geotechnical works

Agenda:

8.45am Registration Western Sydney International Airport Experience Centre
9.00am Presentations by WSA. Safety induction. Morning tea.
9.45am Depart on site tour
12.30pm Return to Visitor centre and tour ends.

NOTE: All attendees must have their own PPE - Lace-up steel capped boots, long sleeved shirt, long pants, hi vis, hardhat, and safety glasses. You will not be allowed on site without this equipment.
